Membership application can be found in our shop. Please read below to select the appropriate membership. Benefits of becoming an ACITA member include a discounted rate the the annual conference starting in 2024, discounted or free training related to CIT concepts, access to national experts of CIT, and up-to-date information about CIT and research.
Members of the ACITA shall be drawn from the public and consist of those who support the purpose, goals, and values of ACITA. These members shall be comprised of four groups including public safety, behavioral health partners, advocates, and/or mental health consumers.
Public Safety: Current or retired members of a public safety agency, including law enforcement, fire department, jails/courts, or emergency services department. This group includes non-sworn members attached to public safety agencies. On occasion, for safety reason, some training will be limited to sworn officers.
Behavioral Health Partner: Current or retired members of a behavioral health provider.
Advocates/mental health consumers: Members of the community who identify as mental health advocates and/or peers.
Corporate membership: Membership includes your logo on our resource page with link to your agency page. Membership runs from January 1-December 31. Please note, if you also have an individual membership you must use a different user ID and email address for the organizational membership. Organization memberships do not qualify for member rates when registering for conferences.
Termination
The Board of Directors may take disciplinary action against any Member and any membership may be terminated for cause by affirmative vote of the majority of the Board of Directors, subject to appeal to the said Board at an open meeting, after reasonable notice at which the accused member shall have the opportunity to confront and cross-examine witnesses and to refute all charges. A resignation of a member shall be made by letter to the President and shall be effective upon receipt provided that no resignation shall discharge any indebtedness or other obligation due the Association.
Membership Dues
Membership dues shall be the sum fixed by the Board of Directors and said sum shall be subject to the adoption of the membership at its Annual Meeting. Failure to pay dues within ninety days of expiration of membership shall result in removal of membership from the Association.
Special assessments may be levied by the Board of Directors and said sum payable within thirty days. No special assessments shall be levied except upon the majority vote of the Board of Directors. The dues paying period shall cover that period of time between the Annual Meeting of each year. The revenues of this not-for-profit corporation shall be derived from membership dues and from such other source as may be approved by the Board of Directors.
